Try not to say this:-

Hearing person	Hard of hearing person
Never mind it doesn't matter!!	it matters to the hard of hearing person
You're not missing anything	they would like to know what they're missing
You have hearing aids don't you?	even with hearing aids the persons may have difficulty hearing
It wasn't important	again they'd like to make their own decision
You're lucky you can't hear this	Really?
You don't speak like a deaf person	That's good
Don't you sign?	I live in the hearing world - do you sign?
I'll tell you later!	(but never do)
You're not missing much	again they'd like to make their own decision
I didn't realise you couldn't hear	this one can also be quite positive
